James Dial, un ancien agent de la CIA, vit une retraite paisible dans son ranch du Montana. Un beau jour, il est contraint par son ancien employeur de reprendre du service. Sa mission consiste en l’assassinat d’un terroriste auquel il a déjà été confronté auparavant. Bien qu’il parvienne à l’éliminer cette fois-ci, les choses vont s’envenimer lorsqu’il est accusé du meurtre d’un officier de police.
